The threat of Trump's Wolf PACT

Trump is sicking his DHS Wolf PACT upon cities governed by his political opponents. I believe it, but I wish it weren't true. The lack of accountability this police force has to local communities is precisely backwards to a result that could be expected to correct the injustices of modern policing. Police need to be more accountable to their communities, if there are going to be police at all. Instead, Trump's response has been to form a paramilitary force, dressed in camoflauge akin to our nation's military, to ensure domestic tranquility as he defines it. The refusal of the Republicans to be honest with themselves about the nature of this threat is an act of sheer politically charged, willful blindness. Trump is their man. He does little wrong. He would never act in a way inconsistent with being an American. But he is creating the very creature most likely to wield the power to rob them of their most prized freedoms. If we want to liberate ourselves from one another, we can buy into the idea that we can more effectively share this planet. We can do so for the purposes of maximizing human autonomy and the experience of equal liberty for every citizen of the Earth, through each of their local communities. We have the means today to voluntarily buy into a federation of neighborhood scale land trusts with a global reach. Existentially, our birthrights are the greatest lottery of all of history. We can make that a game with winning odds for everyone. The desire to be free, to choose to live how we each wish to live, is strongly felt within each of us. But those who experience it most, unfortunately, value it least. They become so accustomed to protecting or jealously expanding their own experience of it that they have created a system of enforcing their own privileges at the cost of others.
